http://web.mit.edu/troutgroup/members_santiso.html

Research Interests

(1)The study of chemical reactions occurring in defective and functionalized carbon materials, with the goal of developing methods for the systematic design of new catalytic materials;
(2)The development of methods for efficient sampling of a chemical space, which can be used for applications ranging from the development of new adsorbent materials to the discovery of new drugs;
(3)The tudy of the initial stages of nucleation and growth of molecular crystals in solution, which has direct application in the development and manufacturing of pharmaceuticals; and
(4) Developing computational tools for post-processing and visualization of molecular modeling data, which can be used in the classroom to teach advanced concepts in quantum mechanics and statistical mechanics.
